# Reporting an error

This corpus is read off scanned volumes by machine, and some of what it says is wrong. A party name garbled by the scanner, a citation resolved to the wrong case, a judgment filed under the wrong year — all of these exist here, and the only way they get fixed is somebody saying so.

## What is useful to send

- The address of the page — every judgment and provision has one
- What is wrong, and what it should say
- Where you checked it, if you have it: the printed page, the official reporter, the court's own site

## How to send it

Use the contact link in the footer of any page, which reaches the person who runs this. A signed-in reader can also leave a note on the passage itself, which is the most precise way to report an error in the text: it is anchored to the words it is about.

## What happens then

Metadata — parties, citation, court, date — is corrected in place and the correction shows on the page immediately. An error in the extracted text usually means re-reading the source PDF, which is a slower fix. An error in the *original* is not ours to correct: where the printed volume itself is wrong, the page will keep saying what the volume says, because that is what the volume says.
